MUSIC THEORY INSTRUCTOR

LIAM BERRY

Karis Wiebe Studios is pleased to welcome Liam Berry on board as our first-rate music rudiments and theory teacher. Liam loves teaching and is very proficient working with students of all ages and skills, right from the beginner level into the advanced levels of music theory, sharing his passion of music theory and composition.

Mr. Berry has enjoyed stepping into various positions over the past several years as music theory teacher, composer, pianist, and lyricist.

As a composer, Liam Berry started his musical career writing scores in the early 2010s, at the outset of an era where online and independent gaming was beginning to flourish and evolved to numerous types of media, including film, podcasts, live theatre, the concert hall, and most recently, opera, with The Ballad of Matty Groves.”  His film scores have won numerous awards and nominations, notably his 2019 scores for shorts, “Model Citizens” and “Songs from a Box,” directed by Taylor Brown. While Berry continues to write passionately for the screen, his standalone works take on a picturesque and folk-infused air, inspired by his deep love of Mediaeval, Renaissance, and English Country Dance music.

Liam has also studied theatre performance and is currently completing a Bachelor of Music (Comprehensive) at Canadian Mennonite University. When not composing, Berry finds refreshment in nature, and enjoys gardening, beekeeping, and of course, reading.

“I enjoy sharing my love for music theory and composition, and find inspiration guiding each student’s needs through their discovery of music.” ~ Liam
